The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Education for Pure & Applied Sciences (Ibn Al-Haitham), in cooperation with the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, held an awareness symposium for students in the use of social networking sites between the pros and cons of networks, in the presence of the director of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Dr. Saad Maan.
The Major General stated that after 2003, there became a great openness in technology in Iraq without restrictions in social media, and this openness intended to change the customs and traditions found in the Iraqi community, calling for protecting oneself from falling victim to electronic blackmail, which is the most wrong change that destroys the family and clan and that should be focused on in further research. On the other hand, the Director of the Department of Moral Guidance in Relations and Media of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hussein Thani al-Sudani, stated in an interview with the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the department of relations seeks to support all awareness and educational campaigns against the misuse of internet and websites for the common good.
