The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a lecture entitled “Methods of determining the sensitivity of bacteria to various antibiotics” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with medical affairs. The lecture aimed to introduce this test which is useful to know the type of antibiotic that can be used in patients who have developed resistance to antibiotics, as this is a problem that reduces the effectiveness of the antibiotic in the body.
The lecture was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Luma Saeed Mohamed, included ways to determine the sensitivity of anti-allergic bacteria because it increases the duration of treatment, indicating that it is one of the serious health problems that lead to death, whether the bacteria are resistant or sensitive to antibiotics, concluding that testing the sensitivity of bacteria to various antibiotics is one of the important tests that the doctor must conduct before prescribing a treatment.
