The Department of Astronomy and Space, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a lecture entitled “Applications of Gravitational Lenses in Astronomy” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with physics. The lecture aimed to identify this term which is a phenomenon of the distribution of matter, such as a cluster of galaxies between a distant light source and an observer that is used to know whether behind the apparent galaxies there are other galaxies, The lecture was presented by Dr. Harith Saad Mahdi, who talked about the origin of this phenomenon and its applications in the field of astronomy and cosmology, by clarifying its basics and types.
