The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnologies for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, has organized a scientific symposium entitled “The Role of Advanced Programming Languages in Bioinformatics” that was attended by the dean of the institute, Assist. Prof. Dr. Saif Dawood al-Ahmar with the participation of a group of professors and employees.

The lecture of the symposium was delivered by the lecturer Dr. Wissam Hazim who addressed the importance of programming languages used in bioinformatics, especially in the analysis of large-volume data resulting from the methods of sequencing analysis of nucleic acids. The lecture included several topics, most notably the introduction of Cloud Computing, Virtual Machine Technology, Linux Operating System and R Programming Language used for statistical computing and graphics and Python Language and its role in bioinformatics.
