The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled (The Nursing Profession between Past and Present) via the Google Meet service in the presence of a number of professors and the students of undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The workshop aimed to identify the importance of nursing and its role in raising the level of health, in addition to the obstacles of this profession in social terms. The workshop also included several axes, the most important of which are: the reasons behind the negative attitude of community towards nurses and treatments in general, in addition to some proposed solutions to solve social problems and change the society’s attitude towards the nursing profession, and the proposed treatments related to changing society’s attitude towards nurses to make it positive.
The researchers in the workshop called for the official media of the state, the most important of which are the media of the ministry of health and environment, such as television, radio, social networking programs, and the press, to include in their programs materials that address misconceptions and highlight nursing as a humanitarian and respected profession and the role of this profession in the development of the level of health services and the mass, professional and trade union organizations, especially those working in the ranks of women, to hold seminars, organize visits to families, and issue bulletins and pictures aimed at demonstrating the importance of nursing and the vital role of the nurse in taking care of patients and healing in a way consistent with the nature of women.
