The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has recently organized a panel discussion entitled “Research in Children’s Language and Literature in the Modern Era” delivered by Dr. Bayda Abdul Hassan Radam. The lecture dealt with the growth of language in the child, as it begins with the babbling, which is a manifestation of the child’s learning of the language, with a section repeated and then two or more syllables, which makes the babbling as if it were a talk or a story, and by learning about the child’s language and literature, in the modern era the West had the lead in paying attention to the child’s language and literature, and the ancient Arabs did not have this interest in the child’s language.

She indicated that Rifa’a al-Tahtawi was one of the first Arabs who were interested in the language of the child relying on what was translated from the West in children’s literature and language in the modern era, until poems appeared from children’s poetry, as well as the story and poetic theater, so many writers and poets walked on this approach, and Ahmed Shawky was at their head, and Maruf al Rusafi was one of those who was interested and excelled in poetry and pointed to the difficulty of going down to the level of children and comprehend how do they exchange conversation with others according to their perceptions.
