The Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, held a lecture entitled “Theories of Molecular Bonding” in the presence of a number of students, professors and those concerned with this topic, including several laser and molecular specialists.
The lecture was presented by Prof. Dr. Firas Jawad Kazim who tried to clarify the concept of molecular structure and its relationship to the various properties of molecules by understanding the theories of molecular bonding and standing on some theories that gave principles for understanding molecular structure. The lecturer reviewed all aspects related to the molecular structure that is understood by determining the geometry of the molecule according to its dependence on the outputs of quantum theory as well as classical theories, and therefore through these theories it was possible to identify many molecular properties such as color, magnetism, chemical stability and reactivity, which in turn are very important in technological and biological applications.
