The Biological Research Unit for Tropical Regions, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Anaphylaxis” presented by the Assist. Lecturer Noor Al-Huda Fakhry, in the presence of a number of postgraduate students, researchers and those concerned with medical affairs.

The lecture aimed to shed light on this severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction of the immune system to some vaccines, fungi, some foods and others, as the immune system fights harmful substances that enter the body, but in the case of allergies, it fights some substances as if they are harmful as a result of a false alarm, by producing antibodies such as Histamine, which causes allergy symptoms. The lecturer stated that a severe or a serious allergic reaction can hinder breathing, lead to a severe drop in blood pressure, and affect the heart rate, indicating that it may appear in minutes of exposure to the allergy irritants, noting that the most allergic causes are caused by some types of food, such as nuts, especially peanuts, eggs, insect bites, balloons, erasers, pencils, gloves or others.
