The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a scientific lecture entitled “Anthrax” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with medical affairs.

The lecture aimed to raise the awareness of the community about the malignant edema or often called woolsorters that is one of the parasitic diseases, the ways of its transmission, causes and prevention since it has gained a lot of attention in the past 20 years because it is a parasite common to humans and animals. The lecture, which was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Harith Saeed Jaafar al-Ward, including a review on the importance of cryptosporidiosis with a historical overview, methods of spread and its most important symptoms found among those infected across the world, adding that this disease is neglected in Iraq because of the lack of a routine diagnosis in the Iraqi hospitals.
