The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled (Modern Technologies in Traffic Surveying) in the presence of the dean of the center, Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, as well as some professors and postgraduate students. The lecturers highlighted modern technologies based on cameras and artificial intelligence techniques used to conduct various surveys that reflect the volume of traffic and representation of urban transport and movement of transport and traffic in cities through the use of Google Maps.

Then dialogue was exchanged with the attendants on the possible uses of such smart technologies, along with the limitations related to privacy, like security approvals required for this type of traffic survey according to the Iraqi law. Then some prominent recommendations were presented, especially those related to diagnose of the causes of congestion according to graphical data for the sake of providing real solutions to end traffic jams by adopting the mechanism of mass transit in crowded cities.
