The Department of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science has organized a lecture entitled “Introduction to the Wika app” that was delivered by Dr. Zainab Taleb Darwish, in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with computer applications.
The lecture aimed to introduce Wika as an open-source software package, containing a set of algorithms that help analyze and extract data, and these algorithms can be easily applied to a set of data, either directly through the interface of this program, or by Java script and that is designed to work on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices, indicating that mobile phones, are no longer considered just as devices used for calling others, but they can be used to exchange multimedia messages such as photos, videos, e-mails and identifying the user’s location via the Internet.
