The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the University of Sulaymaniyah, has organized a symposium entitled (Sulaymaniyah in Heritage). The lecturers talked about the ancient cities of Sulaymaniyah, its roads that link Baghdad through the Darbandikhan Strait, its towers that were demolished in the past.

The seminar also dealt with the paintings during the reign of the Lullubi kings in Sulaymaniyah, the voyage of Mr. Reg and adding that the influx of foreign travelers to Iraq in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth to the nineteenth century AD was motivated by many reasons, including political, commercial, and exploratory or archaeological trends of official figures such as Mr. Reg, the British resident in Iraq, as well as travelers who are amateurs of the journey and movement in the country. Then the professors referred to the scientific efforts of Abdul-Karim Biyara and Dr. Muhsen Abdul Hamid Ahmed al-Bazzini. At last they shed light on the communicable diseases in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the 19th century.
