The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, has organized a symposium entitled (The development of the Smart-Eco-House Project at Sultan Qaboos University) in the presence of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Neimah and a number of heads of scientific departments, where the lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Awni Kamel Shaaban.
This event aimed to introduce this environmental house and the use of optimal construction to preserve the heritage form of architectural designs and to apply the optimal standards in terms of the use of modern technology. The symposium recommended spreading awareness and promoting engineering practices for green buildings and implementing a cultural program through a series of lectures and seminars and developed the Green Buildings Journal, that is a monthly online journal where 15 issues were already have been published, contributing to the creation of an enhanced legislative environment, activating regulations for the green sector, linking Iraq to the global network of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and contributing to the planning of scientific research policies in this regard.
