The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held its scientific workshop on “Geography from Descriptive to Applied Perspectives “, headed by the Lecturer Dr. Nada Jawad Mohammed through the participation of a selection of professors, staff and students.

The workshop aimed to study this science from descriptive to applied frameworks through the stages of human development, several factors led to the discovery of the unity of science and geographical revelations and the presence of evidence of the scientific renaissance as an interest in cultural heritage and the revival of experimental studies prompted geographical scientific research to the path of practice and experimentation. These factors led to the growth of modern geographical knowledge bearing the qualities of scientific theories and at the end of the nineteenth century geography became international associations and conferences of the world. The lecturer reached at a set of recommendations, including the need to hold events on the changing approaches of geographical thought, as well as the significance of paying attention to the Arab-Islamic heritage and contemporary geography and modern technologies adopted in this regard.
