The Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad held an interesting symposium entitled Gender Integration in the Iraqi Universities held at the College of Media, in cooperation with the House of Wisdom to give a clear idea of this subject, with the participation of five female researchers. Dr. Amra al-Baldawi, the President of the Orphan Foundation for Development, has submitted a research paper entitled (An Introduction to the Mainstreaming of Gender Perspective in Iraqi Universities) where she explained the concept of gender and the importance of generalization in the Iraqi universities for a wider participation of women in decision-making positions there.

The Head of the Department of Women’s Empowerment at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Ahlam Shahid Faked, presented a study on (The efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education Towards Integrating Gender at Iraqi Universities: Reality and Finance) who clarified the mission of the Department of Women’s Empowerment at the ministry in terms of the vision, mission, objectives and strategy of the department. Professor of Public Relations at the College of Media, Prof. Dr. Erada Zeidan, stated that the reality of taking into account the needs of women working in Iraqi universities gender-related challenges facing Iraqi academies, also pointed to the most important challenges facing academics in Iraqi universities in the social and economic field. Then the expert in gender field: Aliaa al-Ansari, Executive Director of Bint Al-Rafidain Organization, also stressed on the integration of gender as a strategy for gender equality and a tool to enable construction to reach leadership positions. The session concluded with a research submitted by the Head of the Empowerment Research Department at the Center for Women’s Studies by Prof. Dr. Asmaa Jameel on the knowledge output of women at the Iraqi universities, where it came with a statistical study on the number of postgraduate studies provided for the Department of Sociology at the College of Education for Women.
