Prof. Dr. Sarmad Hashim al-Khatib, the dean of the college of pharmacy has recently participated in the Sub-Regional Exchange Forum for Vaccine Providers in the Middle East and North Africa (VPPEF) Region, held on 19-20 October 2022 in Amman, Jordan in the presence of representatives of the World Health Organization and UNICEF as well as several representatives from a group of Middle East and North Africa countries.

During the Forum, support for the introduction of new vaccines into the national vaccination programme was discussed through public and group discussions during which countries would share best practices and experiences gained from the introduction of new vaccines, as well as the national vaccination programmes and ways to strengthen them, as well as the provision of a platform for country representatives to contribute to in-depth discussions on the programmatic implications of the introduction of new vaccines with a focus on the planning cycle and access to financial resources. The professors presented a set of recommendations, which the countries will work to implement in cooperation with UNICEF.
