The Department of Home Economics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Women, has organized a workshop on “The methods of preparing healthy and safe foods for avoiding fast-prepared foods”. The workshop aimed to highlight the most important methods used to prepare foods safe from the point of view of health and nutrition and to urge the avoidance of fast-prepared foods due to their negative effects on human health and on the adoption of a healthy diet to prevent malnutrition in all its forms, as well as noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), including diabetes, heart disease, chronic respiratory disease and cancer. The lecturers reached at a set of recommendations, including enhancing consumer awareness of healthy diets, developing school policies and programs that encourage children to adopt and maintain a healthy diet, educating children, adolescents and adults about nutrition and healthy eating practices in general to have a well-built body.
