The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad has organized a scientific symposium entitled (The phenomenon of addiction among young people) aimed to increase awareness among the sons of male and female students and also to increase the awareness of parents about the phenomenon of addiction, whether smoking or drugs, it has become one of the prevailing phenomena suffered by society and to guide parents to how to deal with children and contain them for the purpose of preserving them from this phenomenon.
The lecturers also included themes like the definition of the term of addiction, what are drugs, their types, the symptoms of each type of drugs , stages of addiction, as well as how to be addicted to nicotine, its effects and the diseases it causes. In the seminar, the researchers called for dealing seriously with this critical issue in order to developing plans and programs to combat their spread and trafficking through coordination with various institutions and authorities concerned with prevention and control, whether government agencies, civil society institutions, or even international organizations.
