The Surgery and Obstetrics Branch at the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, has organized a scientific course on (How to diagnose pregnancy in cows by transrectal palpation), in the presence of a number of professors and postgraduate students. The course lasted for two days in which the lecturers addressed different methods used in diagnosing pregnancy, including the palpation of the rectum.

This method is one of the very common methods of performing pregnancy tests primarily on cows and calves. The (initial examination) or pregnancy examination of female cattle often leads to successful results, especially if it is performed by an experienced technician and the method of confirming the presence of pregnancy or not is one of the most important things to know in the cow breeder, and this is done through the so-called (palpation) after a period of (45-60 days) from the vaccination of the cow, adding that if pregnancy is not proven, re-insemination is carried out in order to take advantage of the breeding season.
