The Department of Financial Studies at the Postgraduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies held an online workshop entitled (Strategic Directions of Social Responsibility of Private Financial Institutions Towards Economic and Social Problems in Iraq) via Zoom platform and that was administrated by the head of the Department of Financial Studies, Prof. Dr. Baidaa Sattar Laftta, with the participation of the legal accountant Ihsan Shamran al-Yasiri, the Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank and in the presence of professors, employees and students of the institute as well as a number of professors and experts from various Iraqi universities.
The workshop aimed to identify the strategic directions of the social responsibility of private financial institutions towards the economic and social problems in Iraq and identify them through the axes of the workshop and included the most prominent initiatives presented by the Bank and classified according to the core topics contained in the international standard that the organization should address. The workshop reached several recommendations, the most important of which is that Iraqi private banks adopt the concept of social responsibility and have a role in many areas, and promote the fulfillment of the social responsibility of Iraqi private banks in their balanced relations with their society in terms of representing their management of the interests of more than one party and representing the interests of all parties benefiting and balancing their interests with the interests of the beneficiary parties, and the need for private Iraqi banks to absorb their social responsibility in terms of awareness of being a partner in society and not just seeking to obtain profits in order to distribute them to the founders or shareholders.
