The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed the discussion of the master’s thesis entitled (Industrial and environmental parks and their role in solving the existing problems of industries within the civilizational growth of cities) that was submitted by the student Abdul Basit Hadi Abdul Rahim, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nada Khalifa.
The study aimed to find solutions through the application of new industrial and environmental systems, search for means of recycling industrial waste and study ecosystems and other modern systems related to the industrial aspect and their role in achieving environmental sustainability and environmental balance after knowing the mutual effects of some industries with urban growth in cities. The research assumed the adoption of industrial and environmental planning concepts that would address the current situation of industries, and the development of new patterns of industries with new technologies in line with the need for environmental sustainability. The researcher presented a set of conclusions that confirmed that parks and environmental industrial cities are central economic projects that contribute to the strengthening of the economy and the gross domestic product (GDP) in the country as well as the preservation of environmental elements and achieve environmental balance as they are capable of solving industrial problems based on integration into ecosystems in line with advanced industrial projects including the establishment of sustainable buildings.
