The Assist. Prof. Dr. Sabaa Jawad Kazim from the department of physics at the college of science, in cooperation with the Master student Nada Abdul Karim Hussein, have obtained a patent for their joint research entitled “The development of a nanoparticle production system using explosive tape” after the fulfillment of the requirements for obtaining it from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC).

The study aimed to build a system for the production of metal nanoparticles in the form of fibers using cold arc discharge plasma, which works at atmospheric pressure and opens wide horizons for many and diverse applications, including many important scientific and industrial fields, which are characterized as being environmentally safe, pollution-free, low-cost and that resulted in the development of high-quality, long-lasting, clean, easy, fast and suitable products for domestic uses, in addition to transportation, communications, agricultural machinery and public industries. The scholars found out that the process of preparing nanofibers is inexpensive because it does not need expensive vacuum systems and their sized is small for consisting of a number of simple components so it is a safe and an environmentally friendly method which makes it widely used in various scientific applications.
