The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop on the importance of cultural diversity, accepting of the other and protection of the components of Iraqi nation that was presented by Mr. David Müller, Spokeman for Religious Freedom in Iraq for the OJCOS Foundation in Germany, as well as Prof. Dr. Waleed Abdul Jabbar, a lecturer from the Department of Religions and Dr. Ammar Hikmat, the assistant dean for student affairs at the college with the aim to raise community awareness about the importance of accepting other people and preventing hate speech.
The lecturers addressed topics related to the culture that should be distributed in any society to accept and respect the human distinctive features, namely the spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional trends or their points of view, in addition to other fields of arts, ways of living together; values, traditions, beliefs, religion, search for identity, social cohesion and the development of a knowledge-based economy so as to disseminate such a cultural diversity to create the conditions for a renewed dialogue among civilizations.
