The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnologies for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad has organized a scientific virtual symposium entitled “The Concept of Genome” via the FCC platform, where the lecture was given by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Wissam Hazim Salou, in the presence of a number of professors and students of the institute and some specialists and those concerned with this topic.
The seminar aimed to introduce the term of genome that is used in the fields of molecular biology and genetics to refer to genetic information of an organism, consisting of nucleotide sequences of DNA. The lecturer then reviewed a set of genomic studies and approaches adopted in research applications. He also presented an introduction to high-throughput data analysis in studying sequences. The participants in this event recommended the need to arrange a lecture for the analysis of data generated in genomic studies such as Transcriptomics, Chip-Seq, Metagenomics, Small RNA-Seq, Bisulfite, Methylation, Sequencing and Microbiome.
