The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a dialogue symposium entitled “The Impact of the Ottoman Records on the Social, Economic and Political Life of Iraqis and Documents” within the framework of the cooperation mechanism between the center and the Iraq National Library and Archive.
The Director General of the Iraq National Library, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abu al-Hassan al-Alaaq, delivered a lecture in which he talked about the importance of the documents preserved in the national library and how to recover the damaged ones as well as the capabilities required to preserve and rehabilitate them, in addition to their relation with the historical, political, social, military and administrative life details in general, stating that the postgraduate students cannot write about modern history without reference to such documents, adding that Iraq is having a collection of documents much more than what is available in the neighboring countries, so the scholars are called to take advantage of this great legacy in their future studies.
