The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a panel discussion entitled (Abnormalities in the Iraqi Architecture) in the presence of a number of professors and researchers.

The lectures were delivered by the head of the department of pure sciences, Prof. Dr. Saadi Ibrahim al-Darraji who talked about some contradictions in the design of heritage buildings, especially mosques, namely in ceilings as well as the outer walls of the buildings that are very luxurious and this is undoubtedly at the expense of the vacuum since the luxurious supports occupy a large part of the internal space of the House of Prayer. An example of this is the Great Mosque of Samarra, built by order of the Abbasid Caliph al-Mutawakkil, as well as Al-Haider Khana Mosque, built in the nineteenth century, and also added that abnormalities that include the design of the short minaret in mosques topped by a high central dome, as there is no proportionality in achieving ideal dimensions, for example, 14th Ramadan Mosque or Al-Firdos Square.
