The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, has organized an awareness scientific lecture entitled “Chemicals of concern and the related threats” in the presence of the assistant dean for student affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Amir Faisal Abdul Amir and a number of students and graduates of the department.
The lecture aimed to raise awareness of the importance of green chemistry and the threats that accompany the climate and the global change due to the excessive use of chemical and biological pollutants, factories and gases and how to deal with them which may in turn lead to pollution of the environment which is something that called on the countries to adopt safety methods in daily life. A lecture, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Mohammed Riza al-Sahlawi from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kufa and the consultant at the Ministry of Environment, addressed the most common standards applied for reducing chemicals of concern and providing the rationale behind these standards in order to make the manufacturing processes more safer, including minimizing or eliminating the use of key substances of concern in products through the strong management and detection of chemicals; assessing chemical risks to identify more alternatives.
