Prof. Dr. Areej Khairy al-Rawi, a lecturer from the Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, has participated in an online training lecture entitled “Climate Change and Biodiversity” that was organized by Ain El Bee’ah Association in Egypt, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Environment targeted towards the implementation of the activities of the National Dialogue for Environmental Conservation, with the participation of more than 180 professors and researchers from various Iraqi and Arab universities.

The lecture focused on the impact of climate change on biodiversity, such as the extinction of different types of living organisms and the change in the distribution of life species. Dr.  Areej Khairy talked about how to approve a set of development policies in order to reduce biological change, relying on the conservation of ecosystems and the management of the habitats of threatened species. This event also dealt with a number of related topics to reach at some fruitful recommendations on the need to protect ecosystem services, as well as the importance of preserving and managing the habitats of threatened species.
