Eight students from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Baghdad has recently enrolled in a summer training carried out at the headquarters of the Schlumberger Oilfield Services Company in Basra where the students got courses at the Well testing, Wireline, Artificial line, D&I departments. The training curriculum included lectures on safety and training within the company’s workshops and at the end of the training period the students gave presentations in English to explain what they have learned during their training period in the company. The training of students at Schlumberger comes within the framework of cooperation between the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Baghdad and the Schlumberger Oilfield Services Company operating in Iraq so the summer internship is regarded as an effective way to achieve the link between the theoretical knowledge acquired at the college and how to apply it practically.
