The college of nursing at the University of Baghdad has recently organized a symposium in cooperation with the Rafidain Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense entitled (Family planning: birth spacing as one of the foundations of women’s health and social empowerment) in the presence of a number of female employees of Women’s Empowerment Departments at all Iraqi ministries. The lecturers aimed to identify the importance of family planning in empowering women in a healthy and social way.

They stated that a family planning process is a set of medical means that work to regulate the number of children that the couple wishes to have in proportion to their social and economic conditions and their possibilities in raising children correctly and discuss the national strategy of family planning in the country and what are the obstacles facing its implementation. The professors asserted that this process is in charge of primary health care centers, emphasizing the role of the media networks in spreading awareness and focusing on young and older women who are in the reproductive age.
