Prof. Dr. Muthad Ajil, dean of the college of fine arts at the University of Baghdad has received recently the Australia’s ambassador to Iraq, Paula Elizabeth Canley and her accompanying delegation who paid this visit within the framework of deepening the artistic and cultural ties between the two countries in addition to opening the prospects of cultural cooperation between the college of fine arts and the Australian Embassy in Baghdad.
The guests attended a special exhibition of the Department of Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration, where they met the head of department, Dr. Furat, who gave an explanation about the decorative paintings displayed along with other creative works of art in the field of Arabic calligraphy that reflect our authentic cultural heritage. Then Mrs. Paula attended a musical performance of students of musical arts who played and sang some Iraqi pieces, stressing the leading role of the college artistically and culturally in pursuit of providing artistic knowledge to people in different arena of ancient Iraqi arts.
