Dr. Manaf Yousef Hammoud and Dr. Qutaiba Nayef from the college of administration and economics have participated recently in a workshop entitled “Discussion of the draft national document for population policies and its response to national and international commitments” that was organized by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who have worked as members of the committee for updating of the national document for population policies that seeks to determine the extent to it responds to national and international commitments.
This event was attended by the head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Dhiaa Awad Kazim, as well as a number of general managers, experts, professors and employees of the ministry of planning and relevant authorities. The participants stressed that achieving the well-being and decent living of the population requires a number of measures, interventions and commitments, whether in the direction of what is provided by UN organizations or national governments that seek to delight their peoples and ensure their living, economic, social and security rights. Such commitments require the preparation of plans, strategies and the formulation of relevant public and sector policies to reach at this end, so the Iraqi government seeks to draw up policies aimed at achieving comprehensive development in all sectors, including the human development sector, especially social development to accomplish the well-being of the population in Iraq.
