The college of arts at the University of Baghdad hosted a workshop to update the curricula of archaeology for undergraduate studies that would be adopted by the faculties and departments of archaeology at all Iraqi universities, that was attended by the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Sabbar Abboud, in cooperation with the members of the Committee of Deans of the Faculties of Archaeology and the Curriculum Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The workshop aimed to develop the steps of updating such curricula within commitment to the government program launched by the ministry, and to promote the educational reality of this specialization in universities, by providing students with the assets of knowledge and skills in archaeology, museums, conservation and restoration, in order to prepare scientifically and theoretically qualified graduates in a comprehensive way to undertake archaeological activities, as well as to compete in the fields of the various archaeological labor market and to preserve, maintain and restore antiquities, and to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development plans in the field of archaeology and tourism and to promote the principle of community partnership. Also the workshop was attended by the Chairman of the Committee of Deans of the Faculties of Archaeology and dean of the College of Archaeology at the University of Qadisiyah Prof. Dr. Mohammed Kamel Rokan, dean of the College of Archaeology at the University of Mosul Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasmine Abdul Karim Mohammed Ali, as well as the Chairman and members of the ministerial committee for updating curricula; and the heads of the departments of archaeology of various Iraqi universities.
