Assist. Prof. Dr. Farah Ghanem Saleh, a faculty member from the department of Arabic language at the college of education for women has participated in the twenty-fifth scientific conference for humanities held and sponsored by the college of education at Al-Mustansiriyah University in cooperation with the college of education at the University of Misan under the slogan of “By humanities, the community rises”.
She has presented a research paper entitled “The role of the Iraqi poet in social issues”, in which she reviewed and addressed the effects of social issues of women that appeared in the poetry of Iraqi poets, since women are the best ones to express their suffering or that of their daughters, etc. Dr. Farah Ghanem stated that the social issues emerged in feminist poetry such as the issue of motherhood, women’s freedom, education, the revolution against backwardness and retroactivity, as well as other issues related to poverty, betrayal, ignorance, stressing that some of the most prominent Iraqi poets showed this tendency including (Nazik Al-Malaika, Lamia Abbas Amara, Atika al-Khazraji, Sabria al-Hasso, Lahib Abdul Khaleq and many others). It is noteworthy that Dr. Farah Ghanem has been awarded at the conclusion of this event with a certificate of participation for her active role in the proceedings of the conference.
