The Assist. Prof. Dr. Basima Qasim Hasan, a lecturer at the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnologies for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, has recently published a research paper entitled: (Molecular technology for the detection of Pyoviridine gene in Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn cases) that is derived from a master’s thesis presented by the student at the college of medicine at Mustansiriyah University, Iman Nasser, under her supervision to be published by the Mustansiriya Medical Journal.

This study aimed at addressing the isolation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from samples of burn patients of different age groups and from different parts of the body and in different areas of Baghdad. The research also included the evaluation of the sensitivity test for these isolates as well as the detection of bacteria by polymerase chain reaction using specific designed surfactants and the identification of the bioverdine gene showed positive results of 50% while the results of the sequencing showed the presence of a double mutation in some isolates.
