The Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a seminar entitled “The Research gap in physics” in the presence of a number of students, professors and those concerned with writing scientific research. The seminar aimed to identify the usefulness of the research gap, especially in the specialization of physics as it is summarized in the fact that it helps in determining the framework of research and initiating it, as well as directing the researcher’s scientific reading whether vertical or horizontal, and to emphasize that without a clear research gap the researcher cannot defend his research among other similar researches.
The workshop which was presented by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Istbarq Taleb Abdullah sought to clarifying the possibility of counting the gap as the missing piece or pieces in the research literature, and the area that has not yet been discovered or not sufficiently comprehended by scholars, pointing out the significance of clarifying a specific method of research, data collection or analysis, research variables or other conditions, stressing the need to know how to find the problem or previous limitations that one can identify to avoid duplicating researches in the field of the analytical gap, a time gap, a knowledge gap, a spatial gap, an applied gap or a methodological gap.
