The Psychological and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Center for Psychological Research, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held an awareness symposium entitled (Social media, electronic extortion and social effects of electronic extortion according to the members and students of the college of engineering) in accordance with the directives of the ministry of higher education aimed at addressing the risks of cyber extortion.
It was attended by Assist. Prof. Dr. Zhia Jassim Kazim and the assist dean for administrative affairs Assist. Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Ali and the assistant dean for student affairs Assist. Prof. Dr. Wameed Nizar Fleih and a number of heads of scientific departments, faculty members and students. The seminar began with a lecture delivered by the lecturer Hiba Moayad Mohammed from the Psychological Supervision Unit, as well as Assist. Prof. Dr. Tahani Taleb Abdul Hussein from the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the ministry of higher education, followed by a lecture on the types of social communication, their characteristics and potential that enable the user to discuss various topics in focus and how to target certain segments of community. At the conclusion of this event, the lecturers talked about the dangers that may occur as a result of spontaneous use of internet nowadays.
