Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Attiyah al-Sarraj, a lecturer from the department of biochemical engineering at Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering has presented a scientific project on alternative and renewable energy. The project studied how to remove salts from water by means of a reactor and some modern devices and the use of a solar panel system and an electric pump with a few amperes in a sequential systematic way after making sure of the success of several related experiments in laboratory.

The project also contained ways to cool water after purifying it and removing salts in remote areas and cities where there is no clean water as well as wells that containing salts and drainage water, where a contract was made by Al-Khwarizmi college of engineering and the college of engineering at the University of Baghdad, represented by the head of the research team Dr. Mohammed al-Sarraj from one side and the department of research and development at the ministry of higher education and scientific research from the other side to coordinate efforts towards accomplishing and follow-up this project in addition to publishing two research papers in this regard in Scopus and Clarivate Analytics databases.
