Prof. Yorgan Grib, a faculty member from the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Bonn, Germany gave a specialized online lecture that was attended by a number of professors, students and those concerned with the physical astronomy, as part of the mechanism of joint cooperation between the University of Baghdad and the German University of Bonn to develop the specialization of astronomy and space in Iraq.

The lecture is part of a memorandum of understanding signed earlier between the rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi and the rector of the University of Bonn, Prof. Dr. Michael Hoch, which was completed by the scientific and teaching coordinator at the College of Science, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Abdullah, with the aim to develop astronomy in Iraq and seeking to establish a global observatory to keep pace with the recent breakthrough developments in the field of monitoring, research and studies, in order to get an advanced scientific and astronomical position for our country in this field, as well as to develop the capabilities of the students of astronomy. The terms of the agreement included mutual visits between university’s professors and their students, development of scientific curricula, establishment of cooperation projects and joint supervision of postgraduate research, as well as holding workshops, training courses and astronomical monitoring at international observatories in Germany.
