The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a scientific seminar entitled “The role of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in preserving cultural heritage in Arab countries: The Observatory of Urban and Architectural Heritage as a Model” in collaboration with the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering.

The lectures were delivered by Dr. Fathi al-Jarai who is an expert in heritage at the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science, speaking about the organization’s tasks and programs seeking to provide scientific support in preserving the cultural heritage in the Arab countries, particularly the physical architectural heritage of the Arab city, then he talked about the observatory which consists of a team specialized in the field of preservation and documentation of architectural and urban heritage. However, he focused on the form prepared by the team, which will be adopted by the Arab member states to register historical, artistic, archaeological buildings, areas and urban sites in detail.
