The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a seminar entitled “Types of negative phrasing in Arabic” delivered by Prof. Dr. Ghanem Odeh Sharhan al-Husseini, referring to “no” as a tool that denies the nominal sentence, where it comes in many different forms, each of them fit for the persistent Arab-speaking population who sometimes won’t take “no” for an answer. He stated that it is important to learn the secrets behind how to say no in Arabic, and more importantly to recognize when it is being told in the very subtle Arabic fashion, as well as it is considered pretty straightforward and a clear way to decline something.
