Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, the rector of the University of Baghdad, accompanied by the Secretary General of The Central Library, Assist. lecturer Aida Mustafa Salman, have received recently a delegation from the Media and Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of the United States of America who made a scientific visit to the university in order to reactivate the American Corner located at the Central Library that was established in 2006. The visitors discussed the best mechanisms for supporting joint academic cooperation in scientific research between the two sides through mutual coordination with the Cultural Attaché.
The corner includes a range of paper and electronic resources related to English literature, which is concerned with the transfer of American culture, along with a collection of music discs and others dedicated for providing English courses in linguistics, as well as shedding light on the U.S. Cultural Exchange Program (Fulbright), the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) for the sake of holding regular English language workshops that attract students and researchers interested in learning foreign languages as well as sponsoring some scientific, cultural, historical, documentary and international events.
