Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad held an extensive meeting with representatives of the World Bank for Higher Education to support the university’s centers. The members discussed the World Bank’s projects dedicated for fostering development in Iraq in general and the growth of solar energy, agricultural and veterinary sciences at the University of Baghdad where a number of teams were formed for the accomplishment of work and review of the procedures and steps proposed by the university’s presidency in this regard.
The rector pointed out that the procedures were good and there are steps that have been implemented and continuous meetings to exchange visions towards the inauguration of the university’s centers of excellence are all resulted in agreement between the two parties to provide a range of services in the fields of scientific research through cooperation with the local community or region, as well as training students and graduates to achieve the best possible performance in the labor market, in alignment with their counterparts across the world, noting that there are many problems in Iraq such as drought, desertification, lack of energy and how to rely on sustainable and alternative energies such as solar energy, as well as the urgent need in the field of agriculture and veterinary medicine in order to promote these two important facilities. It is noteworthy that the Center of Excellence will provide the right environment for scientific development and research, and there will be partnerships with international institutions to achieve the goals at two levels: the rehabilitation partnerships and the sustainable partnerships side by side to achieve solutions nationwide and in the region as a whole.
