The Biological Research Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, held a virtual scientific lecture entitled “Insulin resistance”, with the participation of a number of students, professors and specialized in medical, food matters. The aim of the lecture was to identify one of the medical conditions in which the ability of natural insulin in the body to reduce the level of glucose in the blood, and what causes to raise the level of Glucose above the normal rates, as insulin plays a vital role in various types of cells such as fat cells and muscles that need to help them absorb glucose, and provide energy.

The lecture, which was delivered by the Assist. Lecturer Noor al-Huda Fakhri, included a presentation on the individuals who are resistant to insulin when their liver fails to perform its function in regulating Glucose levels, that in turn affects the cells of the body directly, causing the emergence of many diseases and pointing out the importance of distinguishing between insulin resistance and diabetes, since the insulin resistance may be an early symptom of diabetes.
