The college of physical education and sports sciences for women at the University of Baghdad has organized a qualitative lecture for the undergraduate students entitled “Aging and Sports” delivered by the member of the educational guidance and psychological counseling committee the lecturer Dr. Shahba Ahmed al-Azzawi. The lecture aimed to explain the concept of ageing and its association with the term older person as a person whose strength tends to decline with chronic diseases, as well as his feeling of fatigue and inability to produce, as this term was specifically launched for those who have reached the age of 60, as they are going through this stage in a state of different feelings dominated by despair and frustration.

She explained the most important benefits of aging sports: lowering blood pressure, reducing blood fat, improving balance and flexibility, reducing normal bone density, reducing the risk of falling, reducing mental disorders, and strengthening social relationships. Dr. Shahba al-Azzawi pointed out that the most important and best exercise suitable for use in the elderly are aerobics, walking, light running and yoga, as well as to guide them to see the doctor even once a year, as well as to emphasize the interest in healthy nutrition such as stay away from ready-made foods rich in saturated fat, in addition to emphasizing the intake of fresh fruits, vegetables and juices in order to enjoy a healthy body free of diseases.
