The college of physical education and sports sciences for women at the University of Baghdad held a workshop in cooperation with its counterpart at the University of Karbala for postgraduate students entitled (Modern methods of teaching and its practical applications) delivered by a number of professors of the Theoretical Sciences Branch. The workshop aimed to show the concept of the teaching process as a group of planned activities, works and procedures run by the teacher and shared by learners with the aim of achieving a set of educational goals first and educational second and to bring about positive changes in the behaviors of individuals third, as teaching represents an integrated system of work aimed at learning from being an activity of three main stages including planning, implementation and evaluation.

The most important objectives of teaching methods were explained by gaining the educated planned educational experiences, developing the ability of learners to use all kinds of thinking according to each method used by the teacher, developing the love of teamwork and cooperation among learners, developing the creativity and innovation of learners, confronting individual differences among learners by choosing the right way for all, confronting the problem of numerical increase among learners, giving learners the values and educational habits desired to serve the community. The lecturers referred to strategies, methods and teaching methods as being due to one of the theories of teaching and sometimes due to more than one theory, the most important of which is cognitive theory, behavioral theory, social theory and the structural theory.
