The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, in collaboration with the Rumor Fighting Department of the Directorate of Relations and Media at the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, has organized a training workshop entitled “The psychological effects of rumors and ways to deal with”, chaired by the assistant dean for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies, Prof. Dr. Thaer Ibrahim al-Shammari.
The lecturers at first talked about the impact of the biased media, and its impact on distorting the facts and showing them differently to the public, by spreading rumors and misinformation and spreading them on social media and other media, so the process of spreading rumor and its movement among citizens and accepting it by ignorant people and ways to prevent them, by showing a number of awareness films that explain this. The workshop was attended by professors and students who welcomed the role played by anti-rumor members in the process of spreading security culture in community. At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Thaer al-Shammari honored the lecturers with certificates of thanks and appreciation, and praised their perfect hospitality and organization.
