The Center for Women’s Studies has issued a booklet on the electoral system in Iraq and its impact on women’s political participation. This handbook relied on the results of the advisory workshop held by the Center for Women’s Studies and supported by the United Nations Body on assessing the legal environment and analyzing its impact on women’s political representation, which brought together experts from Iraq in election affairs, as well as four interviews with specialists and a review of documents and regulations issued by the Independent High Electoral Commission.

The booklet aimed to help women candidates understand the components of the electoral system and its most important advantages and disadvantages and to provide ways in which women can be expanded in the legislative institution as well as include several topics, including the variables associated with the electoral system and its impact on the representation of women, the electoral district schedule and individual nomination for election.
