The photon unit at the Laser Institute for Graduate Studies held a workshop entitled Osteoporosis delivered by the pharmacist Raja Mohammed Ali Abbas, a pharmaceutical monitoring officer at the Rasafa Health Department, who spoke in her lecture that osteoporosis is a very common silent disease that usually affects older adults, but may also affect young people younger than middle age and youth, where it is characterized by a lack of bone density, and a defect in the formation of tissues, which leads to weakness, the likelihood of fracture in any bone in the body increases and the areas most affected by osteoporosis are pelvic bones, spine and palm bones.
The workshop stressed that there are two types of drug therapy and the main goal is to prevent osteoporosis and delay the development of the problem and maintain as much as possible bone density and mineral content as well as avoid fractures and increase the ability of the person to carry out his daily activities to the fullest extent possible as well as relieve the pain that accompanies osteoporosis and non-pharmacological treatment is the diet where eating good food can give you maximum bone size and increase bone density, especially Foods containing calcium and vitamin D. Also the participants asserted that the outdoor exercise is one of the most important factors in bone building.
