In the presence of the rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, the college of engineering has organized it 3rd International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering – Iraq (ICGE-2022) for the period 29-30 May 2022, in coordination with the Iraqi Scientific Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (ISSSMFE) and the College of Engineering at the University of Karbala.
The conference aimed to provide a solid scientific base for engineers and interested people in the field of geotechnics that can be defined as the application of geological, geophysical and hydrological scientific principles for the solution of engineering problems, in addition to discussing the latest research and studies in the fields of civil, environmental and architectural engineering. It will also provide an opportunity for academics and interested people from the industrial and construction sectors to exchange ideas and insights on the latest developments in the operational aspects and the needs of the labor market at the local and international levels.
The sponsors of this event asserted that such endeavors will increase and strengthen the links of joint action among the participants from different countries of the world. On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition of research papers was opened up, also the members of the organizing committees were honored for their cooperation under the auspices of the Holy Husseini Threshold. This event was attended by the assistant rector for administrative affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarmad al-Ansari, the dean of the college of engineering, Prof. Dr. Saba Nahmeh al-Khafaji, the dean of the college of engineering at the University of Karbala, Prof. Dr. Laith Shaker al-Qara’wi and a number of faculty members of the University of Baghdad.
